Oct 8, 2009 Leaf Transformation
I took another trip down the St. Croix River yesterday in hopes of seeing the beautiful transformation of color that takes place this time of year. After some observation, here’s the lesson I received from the trees:
In the fall, some trees lose all their leaves and appear to have nothing left appearing lifeless. They seem accustomed to this in a sense, for they show no fear as they endure what seems to be the toughest of all seasons, winter, only to make a comeback in the spring with new growth, leaves, more branches, and continue to grow taller everyday. The one thing that helps to keep the tree alive is not normally seen by the human eye; it is laying below the grounds surface…its’ root system. How many people seem to have lost everything? Whether it’s their homes, cars, jobs, or other “stuff”….. Remember that your strength and life comes from within, from your own “root system”. Take care of your own personal root system….so you may endure letting go of seasonal changes in your life, for they provide the mulch that helps to protect what lies beneath your surface!
